The Australian Federal Government will today be rolling out a second round of Economic Stimulus Payments (ESP) of $750 for citizens affected by the coronavirus pandemic. This new payment will be available to a tighter niche of people.

13 July 2020

The second ESP is an additional payment if you are both:

  • Living in Australia; and

  • Get an eligible payment or concession card on 10 July 2020

Further eligibility for the second ESP includes people who receive one of the below payments as of July 10:

  • Age Pension

  • Bereavement Allowance

  • Carer Allowance

  • Carer Payment

  • Commonwealth Seniors Health Card

  • Disability Support Pension

  • Double Orphan Pension

  • Family Tax Benefit A

  • Family Tax Benefit B

  • Pensioner Concession Card

If you are on the Coronavirus Supplement, Jobseeker, Austudy, ABSTUDY and Parenting Payment you are not eligible for the second ESP, even if you received the first ESP.

If you claim Family Tax Benefit (FTB) as a lump sum, you will get your ESP with your lump sum. You will get:

  • Your first ESP after you have claimed for 2019-20 and confirmed your income. You can’t do this until July 2020; and

  • Your second ESP after you have claimed for 2020-21 and confirmed your income. You can’t do this until July 2021.

The ESP is non-taxable and does not count as income.
